One of those reasons is Christmas stories. I LOVE reading Christmas stories to my class. In fact, I think most of our days revolve around different Christmas stories once we are in December.
I read my class the book The Best Christmas Ever. After we are finished reading, they will go back to their desk and write about a time they helped someone. You could honestly use this prompt with a number of books. You wouldn't even have to read a book in order to use this prompt. You could even find a way to use it as a personal narrative.
